Hello people, am back with one more article based on my Bible study. This is what I was reading just the other day.
Jeremiah 50:24-26, 33-34
24 Babylonia, you fought against me, and you have been caught in the trap I set for you, even though you did not know it. 25 I have opened the place where my weapons are stored, and in my anger I have taken them out, because I, the Sovereign Lord Almighty, have work to do in Babylonia. 26 Attack it from every side and break open the places where its grain is stored! Pile up the loot like piles of grain! Destroy the country! Leave nothing at all!
….
33 The Lord Almighty says, “The people of Israel and of Judah are oppressed. All who captured them are guarding them closely and will not let them go. 34 But the one who will rescue them is strong — his name is the Lord Almighty. He himself will take up their cause and will bring peace to the earth, but trouble to the people of Babylonia.”
Note: Babylonia was an ancient cultural region in central-southern Mesopotamia (present-day Iraq), with Babylon as its capital. Babylonia emerged when Hanmurabi (Sixth king of Babylon) created an empire out of the territories of the former Akkadian Empire (an empire centered around Akkad).
Now do you know who was Biblically referred to as the spiritual king of the wicked empire of Babylon, it was Satan himself. Let’s check out some scripture for the same.
Isaiah 14:12-15 (Amplified)
12How have you fallen from heaven, O light-bringer and daystar, son of the morning! How you have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened and laid low the nations [O blasphemous, satanic king of Babylon!]
13And you said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven; I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit upon the mount of assembly in the uttermost north.
14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.
15Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol (Hades), to the innermost recesses of the pit (the region of the dead).
Let us read the Isaiah 14:12 from the NKJV (New King James Version) English translation of my Bible to see the name of Satan revealed and this we can link to the same verse of the Amplified English translation of my Bible to know that Satan was referred to as King of Babylon.
Isaiah 14:12 (NKJV)
12 “ How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
Note: The Bible was not originally written in English, so when you begin studying the Bible you will find the need to refer to various English translations in order to dwell into what exactly a particular passage is saying.
We can now try to understand how Lucifer (meaning light-bringer) has surely tried to deceive the world in order to place himself above the throne of God (Isaiah 14:13-14). There are enough references in the Bible which shows certainties of Satan deceiving people by claiming to be an angel of the light (2 Corinthians 11:14) and so bringing a counterfeit beliefs where God (Jesus) is not is in first place (Jeremiah 14:13).
2 Corinthians 11:4,13-15 (Apostle Paul warns early Christians against false teachers/prophets)
4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
..
13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
I am sure it is no news to you that there are monotheist beliefs in this world that claim to know Jesus and at the same time deny His Godhead (Jeremiah 14:13; Satan trying to place himself above God), they may also claim their belief to have come via an angel of God (2 Corinthians 11:13). So now know who that deceiving angel was, I would now like to show you the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophesy of Isaiah 14:15 sees this angel of deception get kicked out from heaven to earth and then to hell.
Revelation 12:9
The huge dragon was thrown out — that ancient serpent, called the Devil, or Satan, that deceived the whole world. He was thrown down to earth, and all his angels with him.
Luke 10:18
Jesus answered them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Revelation 20:10
Then the Devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had already been thrown; and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Wait the story is not over as yet, I have so far explained the defeat of Satan & his kingdom. Allow me now reveal the Glory of Jesus as Almighty and Sovereign God. Let us look at Luke 11:14-23.
Luke 11:14-23
14 Jesus was driving out a demon that could not talk; and when the demon went out, the man began to talk. The crowds were amazed, 15 but some of the people said, “It is Beelzebul, the chief of the demons, who gives him the power to drive them out.”
16 Others wanted to trap Jesus, so they asked him to perform a miracle to show that God approved of him. 17 But Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he said to them, “Any country that divides itself into groups which fight each other will not last very long; a family divided against itself falls apart. 18 So if Satan’s kingdom has groups fighting each other, how can it last? You say that I drive out demons because Beelzebul gives me the power to do so. 19 If this is how I drive them out, how do your followers drive them out? Your own followers prove that you are wrong! 20 No, it is rather by means of God’s power that I drive out demons, and this proves that the Kingdom of God has already come to you.
21 “When a strong man, with all his weapons ready, guards his own house, all his belongings are safe. 22 But when a stronger man attacks him and defeats him, he carries away all the weapons the owner was depending on and divides up what he stole.
23 “Anyone who is not for me is really against me; anyone who does not help me gather is really scattering.
Can you see the remarkable similarity, the God of the Old Testament in Jeremiah 50:24-26, 33-34 in the start of this article, refers to Himself as the stronger entity that not only rescues His people but piles up the loot captured from the enemy, Babylon. I have shown you that Satan was referred to as the king of Babylon. Now look at Luke 11:14-23, the situation is same just presented differently. Jesus in verse 21 of Luke 11 is clearly referring to himself as the stronger man compared to Satan and Jesus too loots the house of Satan and divides the spoils.
Here is some scripture to enhance your understanding and to show how the Church (Body of believers in Jesus) will break through the gates of the house of Satan to save souls in the Name of Jesus.
Matthew 16:18
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
To conclude, the secret behind the prophesy of Jeremiah 50:24-26, 33-34, is that it contains a title that refers to Jesus and they are “Almighty and Sovereign (meaning: in complete control) Lord” (Jeremiah 50:25, 34).
